A bit about the film and its main character…
“Act Natural” ; What if the greatest living background actor wanted to become a real actor… ? Genre: Drama-Comedy
A stupidly terrible foreground actor catapulted into fame overnight as a brilliantly entertaining background actor. Since amassing a cult following for being the ‘greatest living background actor’, “Achilles” has found himself surrounded by agents, directors and romantic personnel who seek to profit off of his curse in perpetuity. When Chauncey “Achilles” Ackerman finally becomes determined to establish himself as the true actor none knew him to be, mischief ensues.
For an undetermined amount of time since rising into notoriety for his lackluster acting, Chauncey has unknowingly been trapped within his stage name “Achilles”. As long as he is referred to as “Achilles” his terrible habit of physical tensity, theater voice and camera fright activates whenever a camera is rolling nearby. It isn’t until Camila, the First AD on “Case Study No.2” refers to him by his real name, Chauncey – the first time in a long, long time – that his real potential manifests as the freakishly capable method actor he always was deep down inside.
“Act Natural” currently stands at 26 pages long with seven scenes, and is being produced by the Rowan University (Glassboro, NJ) film club, the ‘Cinema Workshop’. Principal photography will be taking place strictly on the 1st, 2nd, 8th, 9th and 15th of February 2025 in the Gloucester County area. DEADLINE for SAG-AGFTRA submissions is Tuesday, January 14th, 2025.
A bit about the character we are looking to cast…
The “Agent” has worked in the film industry for long enough to not only identify a star, but to soon manipulate and usher one into the Halls of Fame in perpetuity – no matter the cost. A man of questionable means and mischievous capabilities, his greatest dream was to have a “star”. After failing to take out his second client “Achilles” – in order to fulfill a step of his three step plan for making his primary client Everett Levi into a star – and witnessing Achilles’ untapped potential manifest on “Case Study No.2”, “Agent” readjusts his sights onto a new talent… one of astronomic potential if utilized correctly…
